READ THIS NEXTDOOR DEBATE ON SOLAR

My company is an independent contractor for Sunrun.

Let me help you understand their model and answer any questions.

First, Sunrun is the largest renewable energy company in North America.  They are a $20B, public traded company on the NASDAQ.

There are 4 ways to acquire residential solar:

·         Cash purchase (4%)

·         Loan (1%)

·         Lease (3%)

·         Power Purchase Agreement (92%)

Today, most homeowners choose the PPA.

If you qualify, Sunrun will pay for all the upfront costs (panels, inverters, installation, monitoring, everything) and provide a 25-year warranty, the best in the business.  There is nothing you have to worry about.  If you cash purchase the system, you are responsible for monitoring and repairs although the 25-year manufacturer warranty is still valid.  Also, the PPA is not a lease, and it transfers automatically to the new owner if you decide to move.  It is a plus when you go to sell your house vs a lease which requires a buyout.

The difference in the PPA model is that YOU PAY FOR THE POWER YOU PRODUCE.

It is very important that your solar rep designs the correct size system for your usage.  This is why they need to see your latest bill and analyze how much power you used over the last 12 months so they can design a system that is 100% to 125% of your previous year usage. This requires an experienced solar rep and designer.

Your rep needs to know if you are building a pool, purchasing an electric car, installing any large lighting systems or refrigeration units.  All of this will impact your usage and the system needs to be designed to accommodate these electric upgrades.  If not, you will be buying the excess power from Edison!

It is important that you work with an experienced rep and designer for this, so you get approved for the PPA, get the max savings, and do not overpay to Edison.  Make sure your rep knows about the 5-year buyout option.

Also, there are several divisions of Sunrun: Costco, Door-to-Door, and channel partner.

I work with a channel partner, the most direct route, and we get the best pricing and get most systems installed within 1 month from approval.  My record is 2 weeks!  Most other divisions can take several months up to a year.  I know because I used to work with the Door-to-Door division and am so happy I switched.  My customers are happy and love my referral program!

If your PPA system is designed correctly you should expect around a 30% lower monthly electric bill from Sunrun, and your Edison bill will drop to around $10 depending on where you live.

Here are some real PPA savings figures:

·         ONTARIO: Edison $895 average per month, with Sunrun $367

·         MENIFEE: Edison $210 / Sunrun $120

·         CHINO: Edison $354 / Sunrun $199

·         CHINO HILLS: Edison $161 / Sunrun $98

·         CORONA: Edison $539 / Sunrun $116

·         MURRIETTA: Edison $129 / Sunrun $88

·         JOSHUA TREE: Edison $545 / Sunrun $351

I am happy to provide any additional answers to any questions you or anyone on this thread wants to ask.

I do want to add one thing.  I live in Carbon Canyon and wildfires are a real concern for us.  This is why I have PPA solar to begin with.  If we all switch to solar, the dry condition can start to improve, and our air quality will get better.  It is just a start, but we need to start somewhere.

One last note, the state of California is requiring all residents to use renewable energy by 2045.  Why not start now and start saving now?  You will save thousand of dollars every year and get off of the spiraling higher Time of Use system Edison has you on.

You now have freedom to choose!
